Stand Out with Trends

There are dozens, if not more, of trade show booths at the trade show. Why would anyone stop and pay attention to yours if you’re blending into the crowd? Being trendy doesn’t mean that you have to mimic and a great designer will know how to make it work.

You need to give people a reason to stop and take a look. There are a few ways to do this (and some will be detailed later), but there are two primary directions that you can go in when it comes to setting yourself apart (and you should utilize both).

The first is your visuals. You don’t want a bland and sterile-looking booth. Utilize bright colors, strong lines, designs, and powerful images to get the attention of passers-by. You may also want to include some fun or unexpected items, but more on that later. Look at things that are popular on social media.

Do people love posting pictures of greenery walls, or framed photo ops? Try them out.

The second component of a booth that stands out is the person who’s manning it. You need a professional at the booth, not an employee who drew the short straw and never wanted to be there in the first place.

There are plenty of people who are trained to pull clients and customers to your booth. Why not take advantage of them? You want a real people-person who knows how to make a sale.

You’ll stand out from the crowd when you have a pro on the field while everyone else has a dud.

Stay On Brand

You want to be recognizable in and out of the trade show, so make sure that your branding pulls through

What are the most obvious components of your brand that you want your customers and clients to remember?

If you have a specific color scheme or logo, make sure to include them in all of the aspects of your design. They can be on the booth itself, on any promotional materials that you have with you, or even in any seating area that you provide. Having consistency like that works your brand image into the minds of your potential leads.

Make sure you label yourself loud and proud at the top of your display so that the association gets driven in even further.

Make Intentions Clear

If you’re not already a powerhouse of a company, you need to let your potential customers and clients know exactly who you are and what you do in the brief moment that you have where they’re looking at your booth.

It’s great to have a neat, clean, and well-designed banner or instructional counter space that explains exactly what your product or service is so that people can get the full picture even when your expert salesperson is helping someone else.

Think Outside of The Box with Shapes and Accessories

This is another component of standing out, but it’s done in a big way, so we think it deserves its own section.

How are you supposed to really make yourself known on the floor?

Have you considered bringing in things that no one expects? There are a few options here, and the best one for you will vary depending on your industry.

Consider bringing in something larger than life to your booth space (provided that you have the room). What about a boat or a trailer that customers or clients can interact with in some way that promotes your brand? What about large and intriguing shapes that draw the eye?

What about something that’s great for a photo op, like a special “Instagram friendly” area? Whether they admit it or not, almost everyone loves an opportunity to snap a quick picture.

These items will set you apart from the crowd.

Take Advantage of Your Space

How much room were you given for your trade show booth?

You don’t want to leave a bunch of empty space hanging around. It looks blank, unprofessional, and frankly a bit depressing. You want to use the whole stage, so to speak, to make the most of what you’ve got.

But how do you do that?

Well, if you’re including one of the larger than life additions from the previous section, that’s easy. If not, why not include an area for people to test out your product or learn more about your service?

Informational kiosks are great for this purpose. Small groups can gather to learn about things on their own time while your salespeople draw more in. You can set your booth up like a retail store to draw customers in and lead them through your space. Stores are set up this way to generate good leads.

You can also have a sitting area with informative pamphlets, promotional items, and even snacks to keep people interested and learning about what you do.

Don’t waste anything.

Use an Interactive Customer Focus

No one wants to be talked at for hours at a trade show. People want to get involved and touch things and have room to move around. Your potential customers want to get the most out of your booth, so focus on things that they’ll love.

Why not include some of your favorite music in your booth? Make sure to be respectful to the booths around you, but go a little wild.

Consider bringing in some games or activities that customers can play. This might not seem useful at the time, but they’re going to remember your booth based on the activities alone. Make sure that they fit your space and color scheme, and you’ll be good to go.
